Catalyzing High-Impact Research
The complex problems we face are more likely to be solved when they are addressed by a diverse group of people, with differing perspectives, from a variety of disciplines. This “Team Science” approach results in more comprehensive answers to tricky questions. Forming teams with the potential for such high-impact research takes up-front investments of time and resources. BBISS and Georgia Tech have an excellent track record of forming effective teams.
Looking ahead, areas of increased investment for team building are: climate science and solutions; transdisciplinary research involving community-based organizations, HBCUs, and MSIs; incubating new faculty-led research initiatives; amplifying the thought leadership of our world-renowned researchers; and attracting high-caliber talent at all ranks.
