George Family Foundation Awards Four Fellowships

The George Family Foundation, established by Georgia Institute of Technology alumnus Bill George and his wife Penny, through Georgia Tech’s Institute for People and Technology, recently awarded four student fellowship grants. Each grant of $3,750 was awarded to select students based on academic strength and commitment to health systems as a domain of study and/or sustained career commitment.

The student grant winners in Fall 2021 were:

• Abigail Kettle, a master’s student pursuing a health systems degree in the Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering
• Daniel Kim, a doctoral student in the Stewart School of Industrial and Systems Engineering
• Niharika Mathur, a doctoral student in human centered computing in the School of Interactive Computing
• Jasmine Moore, a doctoral student in human centered computing in the School of Interactive Computing

The mission of the George Family Foundation is to foster wholeness in mind, body, spirit and community by developing authentic leaders and supporting transformative programs serving the common good.

George received his Bachelor of Science in industrial engineering with high honors from Georgia Tech, his MBA with high distinction from Harvard University, where he was a Baker Scholar, and honorary PhDs from Georgia Tech, Mayo Medical School, University of St. Thomas, Augsburg College and Bryant University. He is the former chairman and chief executive officer of Medtronic.
